Guidelines for a little help for our friends

Until the US KAP forum is down, we offer a place for our fellow internationals kapers members of both US and French speaking forums.
You can create evert subjects you need.
Dear friends, you can write here in English.

Many thanks Emmanuel.

So far we have discussed attending 'Comme un Nuage' in Notre Dame de Monts in August (which I think I could attend and possibly James Gentles too) and/or a get-together like KAPiCa 2016 somewhere in Europe or the USA either this year or next. Kevin and I quite like the idea of New England (specifically based around Boston/Cambridge).

I am unlikely to be able to travel to NDdM for the Nuage festival this year as a work colleague already has that time booked off and we are just a department of 3. Of the 3, I am the only one that works full time!

I see that J-D has another KAPi France in mind which is great to hear. I cannot believe that KAPi125 was already more than 5 years ago! I enjoy holidays in France with friends and family - it is so convenient with direct access to Saint Malo and I enjoy driving and finding new places. I like escaping my island prison whenever possible :D

Hopefully, we get some of the US KAP forum regulars joining in here to add some more input to the idea of arranging another KAP adventure. Something in 2019 is a possibility for me. 2020 would be better. I have a US ESTA valid until October 2020 which I'd happily make use of again   I am very open to visiting Pierre in the South Pacific too, but that might take some serious negotiation with my better half

Hy Kevin and Dave, Glad that you post here too.
Yes Kevin, KAPiFrance, it was over for a little bit MORE than 5 years now.

Well, we are at the beginning of another KAPaventure. In "Comme un Nuage" (I think, the only one KAPonly festival in the world) or in an other event later, it's not a problem. Saint-Malo, South England and Pacific sounds great, I think many ideas will fuelling this brainstorming.

My feedback based on Jim's outline:

Timing (year):
b) more realistic, although open to both.

Timing (quarter):
b) May or June assuming northern hemisphere. Best for daylight and summer heat avoided!

Locations (in pref order):
1. a; 2. d; 3. b; 4. c; 5. f.
No interest in South Africa, sorry!
NW Spain and north Portuguese coasts look interesting, but not the easiest for people to get to.
Norway coast and fjords.

Housing:
a) Group HQ ideal. With Wi-Fi!!

Content:
a) Fly fly fly!

Re: Guidelines for a little help for our friends

Here's my actual thoughts for a next KAPxx.

Timing (year):
a) 2019 - this year (Not for a KAPi but why not during another festival).
b) 2020 My preference for a exclusive KAPi meeting.

Timing (Quarter)

b) 2nd Q
c) 3rd Q (summer in northern hemisphere)

Locations:
a) US West (mix - Pacific Coast, Canyons area, Rockies)
b) US East (mix - Atlantic Coast, Urban mix (Wash DC, Philly, NYC))
c) Europe (mix - France - tied to a kite or other festival)
d) Europe (Scotland)
g) Other - French Polynésia ?

Housing:
a) large airbnb home to save $ and add interaction time after flying time
(It's seems to be a good way for a light organisation. But I think that a "basement camp" for all the kapers (meeting and socializing) is a real "plus".

Content:
a) fly and KAP near 90% of the time (similar to KAPiCA 2016) 10% planned events (no flying or KAPing)
b) fly and KAP near 75% of time and 25% planned event / presentations / lectures

But one of the questions for a organisation, is "for how many kaper and guests ? ".

Emmanuel,
Fun to see you mention French Polynesia as a Kapilocation...last KAPiTahiti was in 2009 and was limited to Carl Bigras, Dave Mitchel and ourselves but it was fun !
A unique base camp may not be necessary if you gather let's say 20 kapers you only need one big airBnB for 8 or 10 for casual evenings and 2 or 3 smaller houses in the neigborhood.
Fano in denmark in june could be a great location : plenty of wind, kiters, subjects, kapers from everywhere, and houses for rent, not to mention the local beer is good.... and this Festival is really a great experience, we are going ba+k in 2019, wolfgang, ralf, jim, rich, robert brasingtonandmany others willbe there.
